What Is a Deck Sheet? — Steel Decking Sheet Explained
A deck sheet — also called a steel decking sheet or metal decking sheet — is a cold roll formed steel profile used as a structural or semi-structural base in concrete floor, roof, and platform construction. Its ribbed cross-section is engineered to carry construction-stage loads (wet concrete, site traffic, reinforcement) and, depending on the structural design, to contribute to the long-term structural performance of the finished element.
Core Functions of a Steel Decking Sheet

Permanent Formwork / Permanent Shuttering Sheet The deck sheet supports the wet concrete during casting and remains in place afterward, removing the need to strike and remove conventional formwork.

Composite Floor Decking Where the structural design calls for it, the profiled steel deck and the concrete topping act together as a composite structural element (a steel deck composite floor system), with the deck's ribs providing mechanical interlock with the concrete once it cures.
